Tasks related to fundraising, special events, and retail operations. Responsible for development administration, prospect research, and support of solicitation and stewardship cycles. Our office is fast-paced, and our hardworking staff is passionate working with volunteers to create societal impact in Palo Alto and beyond. This position requires work on occasional evenings and weekends. This is a part-time position, 12-18 hours/week, with flexible hours in-person.
Brief Summary
Tasks related to operations and committees as well as those assigned by the President or Executive Director. Takes a proactive approaching in adopting best practices in customer service and office management. Helps in a variety of clerical tasks such as phone calls, writing messages, writing business letters, data entry, mailings, photocopying, filing, receptionist duties, and providing support to committee chairs. This is a part-time position, 20-25 hours/week, in person.
Brief Summary
The Garden Assistant II (GA) is an integral part of the horticultural staff. Under the supervision of the Garden Manager and Garden Director, the GA supports the garden staff with design and maintenance of the garden, as well as volunteer coordination. The GA has an educational background in horticulture, agriculture, botany, or a related field, possesses attention to detail, knowledge of aesthetic pruning, a good eye for garden design, interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for educating and working with volunteers in the garden.
Brief Summary
Under the supervision of the Garden Director, designs, installs, and maintains the edible garden demonstration beds for the passive and intentional education of guests, members, and volunteers at Gamble Garden. Works both independently, and collaboratively with the garden staff and committee chairs, to create and maintain a fine edible garden, with year-round interest, that supports the needs of Gamble’s programs and community partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Performs a variety of small repairs and improvements. Performs manual tasks involved in preparing event facilities for use, including setting up tables, chairs, stages and program equipment such as sound systems, exhibit booths and removal of same after event; assist guests during events, performs functions during special events, also performs various custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and removal of debris; litter pickup outside facilities; changes light bulbs; operates a variety of cleaning equipment.
Gamble Garden seeks help with routine and event-based tasks that involve lifting and carrying items, and preparing the garden for rentals, classes, and events.
