Visitor Policies

All Visitors

Groups of more than 6 must notify the office at least one week in advance.
Follow all posted signs, including “Private Event” notices; marked areas are closed to the public.
Always stay on pathways. Garden beds and lawns are not for gatherings or activities.
Dogs must be leashed and remain on pathways; please clean up after your pet.
Do not climb trees, shrubs, structures, or fountains.
Do not pick, cut, move, prune, or harvest any plant material, flowers, fruit, or labels.
Do not move furniture, benches, picnic tables, or signage.
Do not attach nails, tacks, staples, or tape to any garden structures.
Do not block pathways or obstruct other visitors.
Do not kick, throw, or hit anything including balls, bats, frisbees, other sports equipment or objects.
No tripods, props, lighting, structures, staging equipment, or similar items.
No balloons, confetti, outside flowers, or similar items that may create litter.
No disruptive noise or behavior.
No amplified sound or musical instruments without prior permission.
No bicycles, skateboards, or similar devices.
No smoking anywhere on the property.
Supervise children in your care.

Gamble Garden is a self-supporting horticultural garden, not a city park, therefore visitors who are disruptive may be asked to leave at any time. For recreation and larger gatherings, please use the public park at the corner of Churchill and Cowper.

Photography & Videography

Individual photographers and artists are welcome to create work in Gamble Garden for non-commercial use. As a self-supporting public garden, donations are greatly appreciated to help us care for this shared space.

Scheduling

Access to certain areas may be limited on weekends due to private events, particularly in the formal gardens beginning at noon. Access to specific locations is at the discretion of Staff, and visitors may be asked to relocate if needed.

You can view our Booked Garden Areas calendar below for scheduled area closures. We do not allow photography or videography during public events, which are indicated on the calendar as “Full Garden” booking. We recommend checking with the office at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

Guidelines

All Visitor Policies apply.
Photography and videography may not take place during public events.
No dance or performance video shoots.
One photoshoot per photographer per day; multi-session or sign-up shoots are not permitted.
Do not block pathways. No equipment such as lighting, props, or staging is allowed.

Group Size & Conduct

Groups are limited to 10 people or fewer.
Children must be supervised at all times. For children age 5 and under, we recommend one adult per child within small groups.

Painting

Avoid setting up on brick or tile surfaces.
Surfaces (counters, raised beds, tables, and benches) must be protected with a tarp.
Artists must provide their own water and clean supplies off-site.
All wastewater and materials must be removed from the property for proper disposal.
Painters may use acrylic, oil, pastel, or watercolor paints.
