Gamble Garden welcomes you to spend a beautiful September morning with us! Explore our unique three-acre garden in a guided garden tour or family nature hunt. Second Saturdays are free and open to all.
For Adults: Free Garden Tour at 10 AM
Come stroll through the garden with a trained guide. Our September garden tour will focus on the spectacular diversity of leaves at Gamble Garden and the adaptive role of foliage in garden design. Meet at the white pop up tent.
For Families: Free Guided Nature Hunts at 10, 10:30 and 11 AM
Many creatures visit Gamble Garden for food, nesting or resting. Join Garden Director Richard Hayden and our Garden Guides as we explore the many animals and plants that can be found throughout the garden. We’ll get our “nature eyes” working as we explore, look for birds and pollinators, overturn rocks and logs, and discover the many different ways the garden provides habitat for animals, both big and small. The nature hunts are ideal for families with children ages 3-10. Meet at the white pop up tent.
NATURE ACTIVITY TABLE
Hands-on activities let little scientists get up close and personal with plants, worms and bugs. This month’s activity will focus on The Amazing Life of Leaves! How leaves make food for themselves and for everyone else too! Kids get a magnifying glass (we call them “biggerators”) to use and keep.
Visit Elizabeth’s House
Walk through Elizabeth’s house, built in 1902, and get a view into the early days of Palo Alto. Our history docents are on hand to answer questions and share stories of old. The Santa Clara Chapter of Master Gardeners will be in the library to answer your toughest home gardening questions.
Plant Sale
Gamble Garden offers a unique selection of plants for sale at reasonable prices. Pick up a plant that suits your needs, and bring a little piece of Gamble Garden home with you! Knowledgeable staff are on hand to answer your plant selection and care questions.
