Itajime: Unique Japanese Paper Dying Workshop

Date:

Wednesday, February 24, 2027 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Location:
1431 Waverley Street
Palo Alto, CA 94301 United States

Learn this exciting Japanese technique (Itajime) of folding and dying paper inspired by the cheerful springtime colors of the garden. Bay Area artist C.K. Itamura will guide you through four styles of folding small sheets of unryu kozo (mulberry paper) and dip-dying them in liquid acrylic paints.

While your freshly dyed Itajime papers are drying, we’ll use Itajime papers prepared by the instructor to cover a small notebook for you to take home. Use your beautiful Itajime papers to fold origami, wrap small gifts, or incorporate into collages and other craft projects.

All materials provided. Class suitable for ages 13 and up.
