Gamble Garden welcomes you to spend a beautiful August morning with us, tasting a variety of locally grown tomatoes! In addition to the tomato tasting, there will be Family Nature Hunts and Garden Tours children (and adults) or all ages throughout our unique three-acre garden. Second Saturdays are free and open to all. Please register below.
Taste a variety of cherry and heirloom tomatoes and vote for your favorite. Last year’s winner was “Sun Sugar”, followed by “Pink Bumblebee” and “White Currant”.
Free Garden Tours and nature hunts
Our August Garden Tours will focus on the Solanaceae vegetable beds. The Solanaceae family of flowering plants, also referred to as Nightshades, includes not only tomatoes but peppers, eggplant, potatoes, tomatillo, and tobacco. Join us to observe, learn and enjoy the beauty and function of these plants. All adult and children’s tours and garden exploration will be offered at 10 AM, 10:30, and 11 AM. Tours will depart from the Pop-Up Tents.
Creative and fun crafts and activities with plant material are set up on picnic tables.
Visit Elizabeth’s House
Walkthrough Elizabeth’s house, built in 1902, and get a look into the early days of Palo Alto. Our house docents are on hand to answer questions and share stories of old. The Santa Clara Chapter of Master Gardeners will be on hand in the house to answer your toughest home gardening questions.
Gamble Garden offers a unique selection of plants for sale at reasonable prices. Pick up a plant that suits your needs, and bring a little piece of Gamble Garden home with you! Knowledgeable staff are on hand to answer your plant questions.
