FULL – Planting for Privacy: Successful Plants to Use for Hedges, Screens, Espaliers, and Vines

This class will focus on the use of plants to create beautiful private outdoor living spaces. Kevin will discuss selecting species that will be successful in different kinds of growing conditions, training and pruning maintenance, and common problems to avoid. Imaginative trellising structures for vines will also be addressed. There will be an optional walking tour after the lecture of successful privacy plantings in the neighborhood around Gamble Garden.

Instructor Bio:

Kevin has been involved in horticulture for 43 years. He is the owner of Kevin Raftery Horticultural Services that provides horticultural consulting and specialty pruning in the Bay Area. He has taught many horticulture classes over the years, including classes at Gamble Garden, Common Ground, and Foothill College.
