Spring
Tour
Volunteer for our special Spring Tour which will be held in April.
Based on last year's tour, more than 275 volunteers will be needed.
Both men and women are welcome; experience is not necessary.
Although about half of the volunteers will have helped at
previous tours, new volunteers are always needed. Tour volunteers
can help as hosts and ticket sellers in the private gardens
or with the activities at Gamble Garden. There will be a brief
training session for garden hosts, and shifts will be about
three hours. See our
Events page for more information about the Tour and to
sign up.
Community
Relations
Contribute to the newsletter. Help with press relations, the
web site and outreach programs. Computer skills are helpful.
Education
Committee
Participate in developing and scheduling classes. Arrange
for speakers, and assist with logistics.
Flower
Arrangers
Gamble flower arrangers make technically traditional arrangements.
Participation can be weekly or monthly on Mondays as well
as Tuesdays the 3rd week of the month.
Gamble
Garden Docent
Be available to lead tours twice a month. Docents will receive
training.
Garden
Volunteers
Volunteers come weekly, Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, 9:00AM to
noon. Work in the garden under professional supervision. Some
experience is desirable.
Library
Committee
Volunteers are needed from 9:00AM to noon weekly or monthly. Library
staffers greet visitors and work with the books. Library experience
or knowledge is helpful. Gamble uses the Library of Congress
system for cataloging books.
Membership
Committee
Members are a vital part of Gamble's success. This active committee oversees membership development and member services.
Office
"Mary Poppins"
Volunteer weekly to help with phones and clerical tasks. Computer
skills are helpful. Help with one-time "spot jobs"
on an on-call basis. Join our "coffee-klatch" environment
for mailings.
Roots
and Shoots
Work with 3rd grade students in the garden on Thursdays. Some
knowledge of gardening is desirable.
Special
Events
Assist in planning and staffing events like the annual Spring
Garden Tour and the Greens Sale in December or help with one
time special events.
Tea
Committee
Our popular teas are usually sold out well in advance. Help
by cooking, working in the kitchen, setting up the tables,
serving or being a hostess. Teas are usually monthly (except
Jan., Aug, and Nov) with 4 special Holiday teas in December.
Spot
Jobs
For those of you who don't have time for an ongoing commitment,
but would like to volunteer consider joining our spot
job list. We maintain a list of volunteers for various
short-term events and projects. Sign up and we'll call
you for a valuable, short-term contribution.
