“Elizabeth F. Gamble: A Life Filled with Flowers” by Mary Burt Blume, Softcover, 40 pages

Gamble Garden is delighted to announce the publication of Elizabeth Gamble and Her Garden Legacy: A Life Filled with Flowers by Mary Burt Blume.

Through photographs and quotes from letters written by Miss Gamble and from people who knew her, Mary Burt’s extensive research and lively text offers the fullest picture yet of the woman whose generosity touched so many in the community, both personally and through organizations she championed. With access to Gamble family archives, the author reveals the charm and wit of young Elizabeth during her college years and in her travels.

What transpired from the time of Miss Gamble’s death in 1981, when she left her house and garden to the City of Palo Alto, and 1985, when the property was secured as the community treasure it has become? Mary Burt’s account tells the saga of wide-ranging public dialog, persuasion, and perseverance.
