Planting for Pollinators

Gamble's Pollinator Garden is located just inside the fence from Gamble's Embarcardero parking lot, in the area formerly known as the California Garden. When Gamble's Picnic Oak (our largest mature coast live oak) died, the shade-loving plants that thrived in its shade were moved, and the area was turned into a garden designed for pollinators.  Work was completed in December 2018.

The Pollinator Garden provides a welcoming habitat for the wildlife that enhances our ecosystem and helps with the all-important job of pollination. It contains a wide variety of perennials and shrubs that attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators.  Signage throughout the area informs visitors, young and old, about the wonders of nature and provides them with information on how to plant their own gardens to provide food and habitat for pollinators.
