This is the first of four consecutive classes: June 5, 12, 19, and 26.
The art of garden writing spans centuries and continents and practitioners of this art form include such great writers as Beatrix Potter, Edith Wharton, Gustave Flaubert, Beverley Nichols, Jane Austen. Each week participants will work in the classroom and the garden, learning to put down on paper in words and sketches, their garden experiences. Begin your own Writers in the Garden book and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Gamble Garden.
Students will learn and practice writing and drawing techniques each week. The instructor’s rich background and experience will guide participants through various, demonstrations, discussions, exercises practice and homework. Additional resources such as Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way”, Franck’s “The Zen of Seeing/Drawing”, Rico’s “Writing the Natural Way”, and other resources make this class ideal for the first time writer or the more seasoned writer/artist.
Bonnie Gikis has over 30 years of teaching experience and has worked with people of all ages. Bonnie was a Master Teacher and Mentor Teacher in the Los Altos School District. She has also worked at Stanford Hospital’s Integrated Arts Program. She has taught Qigong and assisted Qigong Master, Dr. Tayam, with classes at Stanford and San Jose.
Bonnie is an accomplished writer and artist and has taught Writers in the Garden at various locations in the Bay Area.
