Jeff will talk about the tasks to perform in winter to maintain your deciduous fruit trees well.
The topics will include: Pruning for differing tree forms (e.g., open, columnar, espalier, fan) and types of pruning cuts. He will also address optimizing pruning for fruit production (e.g., fruit production on old vs. new wood for different varieties of fruit).
He will also address pest and disease management as well as fruit thinning (after fruit starts to form) to maximize quality and quantity.
Jeff Scroggin runs his own landscape management business on the San Francisco peninsula. He is an avid horticulturalist and fruit-grower with over twenty years’ experience maintaining landscapes that thrive in the area’s unique climate.
In addition, Jeff currently volunteers his time maintaining the orchard at Filoli estate in Woodside.
