Gamble Garden welcomes you to spend a beautiful March morning with us! Explore our unique three-acre garden on a garden in a guided garden tour or family nature hunt. Second Saturdays are free and open to all.

For Adults: Free Garden Tour at 10 AM

Join our March guided garden tour for adults to wander through time and beauty and get a closer look at Elizabeth’s garden.

Our March tour will focus on Gamble’s captivating camellias! Miss Gamble purchased prize camellias from Toichi Domoto, a Japanese-American pioneer camellia grower and world class hybridizer. Now, due to its collection of 50+ camellia cultivars, Gamble Garden is a proud member of the American Camellia Trail. On Second Saturday, members of the Camellia Society will be on hand with printed information, cut camellia blossoms in vases, and experts to answer questions.

For Families: Free Guided Nature Hunts at 10, 10:30 and 11 AM

Many creatures visit Gamble Garden for food, nesting or resting. Join our trained Garden Guides as we explore the many animals and plants that can be found throughout the garden. We’ll get our “nature eyes” working as we explore, look for birds and pollinators, overturn rocks and logs, and discover the many different ways the garden provides habitat for animals, both big and small. The Nature Hunt is ideal for families with children ages 3-10.

All tours will depart from the White Pop-Up Tent. We lead our tours rain or shine. During the rainy season, we encourage you to bring your poncho and rain boots! Please register below.

Before and after your tour or nature hunt, kids will have fun trying a variety of hands-on nature activities at our nature craft tables while adults enjoy tastings a variety of teas made from camellia leaves.

Visit Elizabeth’s House

Walk through Elizabeth’s house, built in 1902, and get a view into the early days of Palo Alto. Our history docents are on hand to answer questions and share stories of old. The Santa Clara Chapter of Master Gardeners will be in the library to answer your toughest home gardening questions.

Plant Sale

Gamble Garden offers a unique selection of plants for sale at reasonable prices.  Pick up a plant that suits your needs, and bring a little piece of Gamble Garden home with you!  Knowledgeable staff are on hand to answer your plant selection and care questions.
