Ready for Rain? Gamble Garden is.
Grassroots Ecology teamed with Gamble Garden this year to install a 60-gallon barrel and 265-gallon tank for rainwater capture and to construct a rain garden. Learn about the why and how of rainwater capture and then tour the new installations at Gamble.
ABOUT GRASSROOTS ECOLOGY
Grassroots Ecology leverages the power of volunteers to create healthy lands across Silicon Valley. They restore native plants to open spaces and neighborhoods, steward creeks and watersheds, and provide hands-on education. The goal of their Greening Urban Watersheds program is to conserve water and reduce the “flashiness” of our local watersheds. Roads and roofs now cover about half of the permeable soils in our urban areas. The runoff from these impermeable surfaces cause erosion and pollution of our creeks. Rainwater capture reduces this impact and provides chlorine-free water that is free and good for soil and plant health in your garden!
