Enjoy Autumn at Gamble Garden! Our October Second Saturday has several special events.
Second Saturdays are wonderful for all ages but ideal for kids 3-10 years old and their grown-ups.
floral arrangements with the palo alto garden club
Join members of the Palo Alto Garden Club and make special flower arranging for kids – take home your very own arrangement.
Since 1921, The Palo Alto Garden Club mission has been to encourage an interest in gardening, horticulture, artistic use of flowers and plants, conservation of natural resources, and allied subjects; to educate the community in these subjects; and to assist in the beautification of public areas in the City of Palo Alto and elsewhere.
Mini pumpkin crafts with Castilleja middle school students
Palo Alto is a special place for gardeners because fruits, vegetables and flowers grow all year long. Join Castilleja Middle School students who are studying fall gardens to learn more about the crops that grow best in the cooler, shorter days of autumn.
Enjoy a hands-on art project with mini pumpkins that will last all the way through Halloween and beyond.
Castilleja School is an independent school for girls in grades six through twelve, located at 1310 Bryant St, Palo Alto, CA 94301. Castilleja educates motivated young women to become confident thinkers and compassionate leaders with a sense of purpose to effect change in the world.
Many creatures visit Gamble Garden for food, nesting or resting. Join Garden Director Richard Hayden and the Gamble horticulture staff as we explore the many animals and plants that can be found throughout the garden. We’ll get our “nature eyes” working as we explore, look for birds and pollinators, overturn rocks and logs, and discover the many different ways the garden provides habitat for animals, both big and small.
Bring binoculars and a magnifier if you have them. If it’s raining, bring your rain boots.
Meet in the picnic area. (map for Nature Hunt)
