Gamble Garden’s June Second Saturday was a busy, festive day. Guests checked into the garden and enjoyed a variety of activites in all areas of the garden:
• In the rose garden and rose garden patio, the San Mateo County Astronomical Society engaged guests with telescopes, prisms, and sun viewing activities
• In the gazebo, The Dome Combo serenaded guests with light jazz music, providing a beautiful ambience in the garden.
• In the tea house patio, volunteers ran an exploration station on photosynthesis.
• In the Pollinator Garden voluteers ran craft stations where guests could make suncatchers and weave fresh flower crowns.
• In the house and the gazebo, Aubrey from YCS entertained the little ones with sun themed storytimes
• On the Carriage House patio, Master Gardeners provided advice, and the Membership Committee answered questions about membership. Eleven new Gamble Garden members signed up that morning!
• In the Main House, volunteer docents guided guests around the first floor rooms and painted a picture of life at the turn of the century.
The highlight of the day occurred when the community gathered on the Carriage House Patio to celebrate Gamble Garden’s 40th Anniversary with cake! Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Gamble Garden, then volunteers passed out over 200 mini cupcakes to hungry little guests. A few dozen lucky children also received colorful flower balloon wrist corsages as a party favor.
We would like to give a big thank you to all of our community partners, garden guides, docents, craft volunteers, floral arrangers, and dirty knees volunteers for helping organize, prepare for, and run the activities. We are so appreciative of all the time you all spend supporting Gamble Garden in a myriad of ways!
