Rose Garden
The Rose Garden now contains varieties which bloom well in our area.
As you can see by the aerial view of the garden, below, it is
circular in shape. This was formerly the site of a "Clock
Golf" game. Clock Golf requires a finely-mowed circular
area of lawn about 20' - 24' in diameter. Twelve markers are placed
around the circle's perimeter, each representing an hour on
the clock. A can or container is set in the ground in the center
and is used as a putting hole. Starting at "1:00",
the players putt from each number in turn into the hole. This
game was popular in England beginning in the mid-19th century.
A quick Internet search reveals that Clock Golf games are still
available from the UK.
