Fruit Trees

"Espalier" is the name of the technique for training pairs of branches horizontally from the center trunk. These espaliered fruit trees are located along the path near the greenhouse. The trees shown here are from the genus "Malus" or Apple.

In early spring it is easy to see how the branches are trained against the fence.   In March, the leaves are beginning to emerge.   By July, the apples are beginning to ripen.
