This garden was featured on the 2013 Spring Tour. The class is being offered due to numerous requests to learn more about how this garden was designed and created. Now you can learn how it was done. Come to this class and you will learn secrets for creating an edible paradise that is also visually stunning. O’Malley Stoumen, who has 40 years of experience gardening for food production, will present photos and discuss practical tips detailing the design of her unique garden. Later we’ll tour her Palo Alto home garden, featuring a chicken coop and a variety of trees and plants providing seasonal produce. This class is limited to 20.
O’Malley Stoumen and her husband lived completely off the grid for fifteen years on a small ranch where they cultivated all their fruits and vegetables. Utilizing their training in architecture and deep expertise in edibles gardening, plant propagation, and solar power, they have adapted their ranch experience to Palo Alto living. The front garden has been transformed into an ingenious orchard. Homemade trellises, beautiful sculptures in their own right, optimize plant growth habits. This garden is a true inspiration of sustainable gardening for suburban dwellers.
